How can I access public records to find if someone has been married or divorced ?

I am trying to do a search on this and I am always tranferred to websites that ask for your credit card...How can I access public records to find if someone has been married or divorced ?
Why do you need to know? Does it matter?

If you really want to know, and don't want to spend any cash then it's simple,

ASK the person in question whether or not they have been married/divorced. If you love them, and are interested in them, then their history should not matter. Stop being a snoop, and start being honest. How can I access public records to find if someone has been married or divorced ?
If u have to go as far as to get your info from public records aint even worth it ,,,,u should be able to get the info u need from the person itself

ps/with any public look up you have to pay for most of them,,

I don't know what state your in but I'm from Oklahoma, and we have a website that is OSCN.net, that is oklahoma supreme court network.com it shows things like what you are looking for. Try to find a site like this in your state.
You have to go to town hall and ask the town clerk how you can find out if someone you know was married or divorced. You probably have to pay a fee for them to look up the record. It isnt free.

  • What country can I get married fastest?

I want to get married to an asian lady. I think arab and mongolian women are very beautiful and exotic. I dont want to waste too much time dating. I want the marriage to be almost immediate. Preferably, the country is very poor so that they will view me as wealthy and of high social status - where the women will quickly take notice of me. So, what countries is it easiest for a western man to get married? What country can I get married fastest?
A show off Con Artist eh?What country can I get married fastest?
You came here for an answer, not a lecture. Therefore, I'll reserve my opinion of the matter.

First of all, will you be moving to her country, or will you bring her back to yours?

I recommend strongly against moving to her homeland. Your money may be worth more there, but I know several people who have traveled the world, settling at times in regions of economic poverty, and they were unable to find any measure of satisfaction. You'll be without the luxuries you've longed taken as granted, and your belongings will be coveted by people who truly have a right to covet. However, if you do this, simply check out a list of countries by rank of poverty ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cou鈥?/a> ), and you'll know whose women you'll best impress.

If you'll be retrieving her to your Western world, your best bet is to take a quick survey of ';mail-order bride'; sites. These will give you a good idea of which women are most desperate to seek their fortunes in prosperous and developed lands. In addition, the rank of poverty list linked above will be useful.

It would also behoove you to research sexual discrimination in the countries from which you hope to choose a bride. A culture whose women are undervalued may give you a surprisingly hard time about stealing one away, especially if the population is predominantly male, but your bride will be all the more grateful.

All in all, Mongolia would outwardly seem to be an excellent choice, as well as the Southeast Asian islands.
Well Africa is pretty poor, course you have to watch out for the AIDS. Stay away from the French. I hear Russian women are pretty easy.
I don't mean to lecture you but I feel the need to! By the way Im not American ...

First of all women are not a commodity! Women are not just beautiful but intelligent too! It sounds like you think that you are ';higher'; than women. Arrogance and prejudice do not take you far with most intelligent women! Secondly it is sad how you want to go to a poor country so that you will look wealthy. Basically you want to take advantage of the womens poverty and social status. This sickens me. Marriage isn't something to be taken lightly ... and you should not get married quickly just for the sake of it. Seriously you should be in love .. she shouldn't love you for your wealth!

I hope you can reflect on this.........

    Best regards
I dont think its going to happen. Seriously, you cant just marry just like that. It doesnt work like that.
    That is just odd!!
Your concern should be where you can get a quick divorce, when you find your marriage is total hell.

Puerto Vallarta has鈥?everything! Located in the center of the Banderas Bay is Puerto Vallarta. Embraced by an exuberant vegetation, bathed by the Pacific Ocean, heated by a vibrant sun, refreshed by the summer rain, constantly caressed by the ocean breeze, nourished by the river waters, decorated by palm trees and millions of flowers, contemplated by the moon, illuminated by the stars, in love with life and loved by its inhabitants鈥?Puerto Vallarta has everything to give to those who decide to step on its fertile land.

There is no other tourist destination in Mexico with such a privilege. Puerto Vallarta is a city experiencing constant growth and development, while at the same time maintaining a provincial air that intoxicates even the most calculating businessperson with romanticism.

If I can help you in anyway, feel free to email me!

    Good luck and congrats!

    :)
I think the best options are Cabo, Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta. Cabo as at the tip of the Baja Peninsula. Cancun and Puerto Vallarta are about at the same latitude as Hawaii so the climate is excellent. I think Cancun and the surrounding area is the prettiest because it is on the Caribbean but it is also the most expensive.
My dad's getting married in Mexico in a few days :D we're going to the Mexican Riviera and staying at Dreams Princess Riviera Maya. http://dreamsprincess.com/index.php?loc=鈥?/a> It's all inclusive, which is great. And its not as much of a party town as Cancun. But a word of advise- get married in a court house before your trip. you'll be bogged down with paperwork if you actually do it in Mexico. (just have the ceremony there) here's some pics of the wedding set up:

Is it legal to get married to your second cousin?

Can you get married to your second cousin? Not that I'm thinking off it, just wondering. Is it legal to get married to your second cousin?
    check out this site:

    www.cousincouples.com

It gives a break down state-by-state of what is legal and what isn't. Some of the information is rather disturbing. Is it legal to get married to your second cousin?
You would have to check with your states attorney general's office
In every state in the union (including Ohio), in just about every country in the world, the answer is yes.
from what i understand it is but you have to check the laws for you state
You can in the state of Maryland! And they pick on West Virginia!
That would be kinda interesting, you would already know your in-laws. I think it is legal in most states.
you have your question wrong, it should say is it natural?
I think in some states you can. In OH you can't be closer than 3rd cousins.
i think it varies from state to state . probably though.
I believe in most states, it's okay... most states will even allow marriage between first cousins as there has been no link to genetic deformity due to it.

How long is a good amount of time to wait to get married?

Getting to know someone takes time, but when do you think you have more or less figured them out? You don't want to wait too long, or not wait it out long enough. What do you think? How long is a good amount of time to wait to get married?
I think it depends on the people involved! Everyone is different - some are open books, others have many layers, we all have baggage of some sort, but some baggage is harder to either deal with or open up, etc., etc. Lots of variables - times two.

I've heard the saying, ';Listen to your head, follow your heart.'; - but I think we need to make sure they are communicating! If both agree, it's a good deal. If they disagree, you need more time. Since I believe that marriage is forever, you should be sure. What seems to be ';too long'; to one person might not be enough time for another. How long is a good amount of time to wait to get married?
It all depends on how fast of a person you are. Did you go on one date a week for 4 months? Or were you with each other everyday for the past year? I think you will just know when it's that time and that you're ready. There's no hurt in waiting, it's only a piece of paper. It won't make your partner love you any more or less.
Wait for at least one year to get engaged. You should set a date at the time of engagement which would be an year or less away. That would give both of you an ample opportunity to know each other well.
I would wait at least one year before jumping into marriage. Marriage is supposed to be a lifetime commitment.
Well, if you've been dating for at least 2 years the risk of divorce significantly goes down. So, I'd say at least 2 years.
When in doubt, follow the lunar cycle (seems like a reasonable idea to me). That is one year.
    Forever.
    3 yrs.
    64 years
I think that two years would be about right.

IF the man wants kids, have him put a bunch of money in a separate account to where you can be the only person to get it out. If you have a baby he takes off you can chase him for child support with his own money. 2 of my friends are going through this right now, it is so hard on the mothers. What important things do women consider when they are going to get married?
Security is very important to everyone. Marriage should be planned and talked about. Its not all about the bedroom life but about how your going to pay bills and live. If she thinks she will have to do it all, then she probably won't be a very happy marriage pardner. Don't get the cart before the horse, make sure you can take care (be the provider) of her before saying those vows.

How was Margret Douglas who married the Earl of Lennox related to Henry VIII and Katherine Parr?';?

I know that they attened the wedding (Henry and the Queen ) and that Margret was one of their cousins. But my question is who's cousin and was it first or second or what? Was the Earl of Lennox already Calhoun or was it still Grant at that time?

Thanks for your help. How was Margret Douglas who married the Earl of Lennox related to Henry VIII and Katherine Parr?';?
Margaret Douglas, Countess of Lennox (October 8, 1515 鈥?March 7, 1578) was the daughter of Archibald Douglas, 6th Earl of Angus, and Margaret Tudor, queen dowager of Scotland.

Margaret was born at Harbottle Castle in Northumberland. Because of her nearness to the English crown, Lady Margaret Douglas was brought up chiefly at the English court in close association with the future Queen Mary I of England, who remained her fast friend throughout life. She was high in the favour of her uncle, King Henry VIII of England, but was twice disgraced; first for an attachment to Lord Thomas Howard, who was imprisoned because of his misalliance with Margaret, and died in the Tower of London in 1537, and again in 1541 for a similar affair with Thomas Howard's half-nephew Charles Howard, the half-brother of Queen Catherine Howard.

In 1544 she married a Scottish exile, Matthew Stewart, 4th Earl of Lennox (1516-1571), who was regent of Scotland in 1570-1571. During Mary's reign, the Countess of Lennox had rooms in Westminster Palace; but on the accession of Queen Elizabeth I, she moved to Yorkshire, where her home at Temple Newsam became a centre for Roman Catholic intrigue. She succeeded in marrying off her son, Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, to his cousin Mary, Queen of Scots, thus uniting their claims to the English throne.

So, he was her uncle. How was Margret Douglas who married the Earl of Lennox related to Henry VIII and Katherine Parr?';?
Margaret Douglas was Henry VIII's niece. Her mother was Henry's sister Margaret, who had been married first to King james IV of Scotland, then after his death to Archibald Dogulas, first earl of Angus, who was the father of Margaret Douglas.

  • Is it easier to file as immigrant to Canada when you are married? Any tips for easier approval?

or do you know other country needs an immigrant badly? Is it easier to file as immigrant to Canada when you are married? Any tips for easier approval?
Australia is looking for immigrants. With skills. Just do search on ';Australia immigration'; for an explanation of the different types.

For Canada, no being single is the best way, unless your spouse is highly skilled. Do a search for ';Canada immigration'; and take their test (it's an assessment of your chances of being an immigrat based on your education, age, skills, languages spoken, etc.). If you have relatives in Canada who are willing to sponsor you, so much the better. Also, you will need 12,000USD to support yourself for the first year in Canada while you get settled, so better save that up (as you must have proof of funds before admission as an immigrant). Is it easier to file as immigrant to Canada when you are married? Any tips for easier approval?
Non, it's not easier to apply (for YOU) if you are married or not. If you want to bring your partner/significant other into Canada at the same time, it would be easier for THEM if you two were married. If one of you is approved, their spouse will be almost automatically approved too, so long as they pass medical %26amp; security checks. So in general, if both of you are planning to come to Canada anyways, it's easier if you are married.

There's a Yahoo! Group for immigration to Canada that helps answer your questions, called Immigration Canada: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/immigratio鈥?/a>

For more info see the government Citizenship %26amp; Immigration website (see link at bottom of this post)

I'm sure that China could use some immigrants...

From a pure economic perspective which is better staying single or getting married?

Considering that being single means all your earnings are kept to yourself. There wouldn't be children or family to spend money on. On the other hand, if you're married you will have almost double income as most couple share their finances. From a pure economic perspective which is better staying single or getting married?
As long as you can STAY married it is probably a better economic decision. Divorce is an expensive diversion that is infinitely more expensive than either remaining single or staying married.

Assuming you remain married for the long term you could take advantage of tax breaks like income splitting, child tax benefits, pooled health and dental benefits, shared accomodation costs and joint retirement savings (pooled principal = higher interest earnings/market returns).

Sure, children cost money to raise but they will save you money on things like household maintenance and long term care as you age. Not enough to earn back what you've spent, but hey, happiness in one area of your life can prevent spending in others like binge-drinking and loose women.

As long as we're on women it also bears consideration that a long term partner, while initially expensive (i.e. wedding and a ring), will cost less in the long run than a series of partners whom you wish to impress through splashy first dates and expensive gifts. Also the cost of satisfying your, um, carnal needs is likely lower in the marital bed than through, um, professional services like strippers, escorts, and one night stands.

Of course all of these financial benefits can be negated by being a philandering free spender with his divorce attorney on speed dial...But we all know that any endeavour involving lawyers only benefits lawyers.

Besides, if you don't have the self control to keep it in your pants or the reason to convince the wife to wait on buying that deep freeze, you're probably not destined for financial success anyway- married or single...From a pure economic perspective which is better staying single or getting married?
    I agree with MSean.

Get married but have no or few (like only one child) as this is the most efficient as two can live cheaper than one. Not only that, if one loses their job, you can normally live off the other's pay until reemployed. Also, you can live a better life style and save more if you are smart. Most but not all married people have to many children and set them selves up for failure(financial).
Economist Harry Dent says that people enter their peak spending years between 25 and 50. These are peak spending because that's when they are raising a family. After the kids leave home the parents become savers, not spenders. That's why our economy has turned down lately, The Boomers have passed their peak spending years.

My opinion from a real world standpoint is that economically you would be better off single. Especially if you are male. On paper the dual income looks good, but in the real world 80 percent of household spending is done by the woman of the house. You will have lost control of most of your income.

How do I get a married man to be interested in me again so I can diss him?

This guy got me really interested in him and I found out he is married. He told me he was separated and we continued the ';friendship';. Now we are at a crossroads because I basically told him I want the truth from him and all he tells me is that he wants me. I know what that means and now I want to get back at him and make him want me more so I can leave him.How do I get a married man to be interested in me again so I can diss him?
That's twisted stuff. How do I get a married man to be interested in me again so I can diss him?
perhaps, that might not be a good idea. revenge is not a good behavior. just believe he will get whats coming to him in the end. just depart from him and move on and find another nice guy. Its a waste of precious time, and why waste TIME on someone who doesn't give a damn. I know your angry and hurt, and we do things out of hate, but down the road you ll realize how stupid it was. So im telling you now before you make foolish mistakes. I would check the background of the next guy you date, and scope him out before you further a relationship with them, and it will spare you many heartaches in the future. Good luck and remember to not waste time on trash. unfortunately its ashame you wasted too much time on him already.
Grow up and stop playing games, the guy is married leave him alone! If it were my husband and I found out a girl was tying to do that there would be a fight
What's the point? He played with you and now you want revenge? The best revenge is to live well, be happy and forget about him. He's not worth it. Trust. ';-()
I guess you can act flirty and fun while you are with him so he knows what he is missing
Don't do a thing. Haven't you heard of karma? What goes around comes around and he'll get his, don't waste another second of your life thinking about him!
You are fooling yourself about get him back to dump him to hurt him
    Revenge is NEVER worthwhile.
omg he is married got over it

    jeez

u want him to like u so u can diss him
you sound way too young and immature to be seeing a married man

    how old are you?? 12
    revenge is never the answer
    Grow up

How can I win sole custody of my child despite not being married?

Basically, this is a battle for a child out of wedlockHow can I win sole custody of my child despite not being married?
I鈥檓 a Father鈥檚 Rights Advocate for 20 years.

Many think the courts are rigged against dads, but in reality, it is more about attorneys unwilling or lacking the knowledge to truly fight for the father's rights. This is why it is important to learn how to interview and hire the right attorney. It is also important to do as much as possible on your own and not pay the attorney to do it.

Start keeping a daily journal of all your activities. The most common way to prevent a father from getting his rights through the courts is a false allegation, usually sexual. Over 60% of divorcing father are accused of child sexual abuse, of which only 4% are found to have any relevance, but there are no penalties for doing so. A daily journal is your number one piece of evidence in court and you can even refer to it while on the stand.

Gather evidence. Check the site below to see if it is illegal to record conversations without the other person knowing. If your state does not have a law either way, than it defaults to the federal ruling which says one person in a conversation must know they are being recorded. You鈥檙e that one person. In Missouri it is specifically legal, in Kansas there is no mention either way. If you live in two different states, and one has a law against it, than it applies when the call originates from within that state,

Now, you can't just record, you also have to transcribe it into the daily journal.

If you want to learn how to do all this go to Dads House in Yahoo Groups. There's an educational manual in the file section that can teach you what you need to know. The organization it came from is defunct due to attorneys that tried to take it over and make money from it.

Take the time to learn what you can and should do.

http://www.parentalalienation.org/How can I win sole custody of my child despite not being married?
If you are a male and the child is under eight, this will be very difficult.

The ';tender years'; doctrine is one that is followed by almost every state family court system. Absent establishment of lack of fitness by virtue of drug use, chronic alcoholism, prostitution, abandonment of the child periodically or criminal incarceration, the best interests of the child are always presumed by the Court to be by having the mother be the primary custodial parent.

If you are battling with the child's mother, is it about money? I ask because sometimes parents have a price, and a lump sum offer may cause her to agree to give you primary physical custody.

Absent that, the best you can hope for is a liberal visitation schedule that adopts a co-parenting model favored by the courts. You will need to retain a Father's Right's attorney to assist you.
Is the other parent unfit, or are you just trying to punish them using your child as the device of torture? If the other parent is fit, it would be in your child's best interest to have equal time with both of you.

Proving the other parent unfit would be the first step towards sole custody...
Unless you can prove the father unfit, you can't....Sorry.

The child is genetically half his, or did you forget that?

You picked him to be the father (remember??), and as such, he has legal rights.
    I agree with girlegi.

    but with Three things added

    One will have physical custody...

Child support from the noncustodial parent. set at about 33 % of gross income...

    Visitation set out clearly. ...

The woman wins that all the time.
Get a lawyer or try to get along with the father enough to split custody fairly
The battle is the same if you are married or not.
You file for sole custody and go to court. (Forms are at the courthouse- you know... the big building downtown)

Why would a married man go to trips with another married woman?

I'm rephrasing the question I asked earlier. My soon to be ex denies having an affair with this married woman, a mother of 4, who was once his coworker. I have proofs of their affair and don't want him back in my life. But he is insisting they had nothing between them. Why would he go out to trips with her if he didn't have a relationship? I told him that I don't trust him and don't want him back in my life ever. Why doesn't he get my points? Why would a married man go to trips with another married woman?
You know the saying, ';No matter what, deny deny deny';? Sounds like he's taking it to heart.

Im glad you're not taking him back. Remember, there will come a day when he looks at his life and regrets what he did. By then, you'll have moved up and on and probably have someone who love and respects you.

Lots of luck! Why would a married man go to trips with another married woman?
Your point is now moot. You referred to him as your ';soon to be ex';. If that is the case, what would it matter with whom he had been or what they did or did not commit.

It would be best if you started considering the future. You cannot change the past, but you can influence the future. Get doing it.
Why are you having such a hard time with this? Your husband LIED. You have tons of proof, you know he lied. You aren't done with him, because you reword the question and pose it again. You need to let go of all this. You're getting a divorce. It doesn't matter what he thinks or feels. Why do you try to believe what he's telling you? He's a LIAR. If you can't get passed this on your own, maybe you should try some counseling.
I have proof of their affair.

So....to get him to see your 'points' lay the evidence out before him.

That failing.....use this magical spell that dissolves all love and bonds in a relationship. Now remember...this has to be said verbatim. Leave nothing out. Ready?

';Hey....Dipshit. What part of 'get the fug out of my life' don't you understand you Asshole?';.

Repeat in a louder voice if the first incantation fails and increase the volume of your voice each subsequent time.
There may or may not be a sexual relationship going on between them. Either way, it's not appropriate for him to go on a vacation with a married woman and her kids. I would say there is something going on and you were right to dump him. If there is ever anything said about it, maybe you should ask how he would have felt if you went on a vacation with a married man and his kids?
If you have proof then that's it you have the proof, so whatever he says you know is a lie, why bother trying to get lier to admit the truth? Just put him out of the picture and get on with your life.
He is in denial boo. He might just believe that he did nothing wrong.

Ur doing the right thing by divorcing his trifling stupid a**!

Move on and let it go. All u gonna do is work yourself up by trying to prove to the idiot he was wrong. It so isnt worth losing sleep over. He cheated and u know it... what more is there to discuss!
he doesn't want you to leave so will deny this happened to the bitter end. i have guy friends that have said they will deny until they die. but your heart and head will know the truth. i think them lieing helps them deal with what an @ $ $ they are.
what does it matter if he sees your point? you have the proof you need. get on with your divorce and your life and you will be better off for it
Unfortunately, some people's jobs require them to go on trips with co-workers. So apparently your ex had a job. How awful!

How do Conservatives view Sarah Palin's Daughter pregnancy Since She is NOT MARRIED?

Honestly speaking, I was raised by my grandmother and If i were pregnant at 17 and i was not married- I was going to hell and shunned by the whole community. But that was then How do Conservatives view Sarah Palin's Daughter pregnancy Since She is NOT MARRIED?
Conservatives only see this as a problem when a liberal or Democrat does it. When a Republican is outed as being gay, or has an affair, or shows a predilection for young boys or something like that, Republicans see it as unfair to criticize him, the charges are only political.

It's the same when a daughter of a Republican is pregnant outside of marriage. If it was Senator Biden's daughter, we'd be seeing questions here about how we could even THINK about electing someone so immoral that his daughter is pregnant. But since it's a Republican daughter, well, sh*t happens, it happens in the best families.

And it does! It could happen to your daughter. Girls with those silly Promise Keeper rings, who take pledges and get certificates get pregnant outside of wedlock just as often as girls who don't. Anyone who is young, or once was young, can be understanding about that. It doesn't really bother me a bit, what bothers me is the incredible hypocrisy of Republicans. How do Conservatives view Sarah Palin's Daughter pregnancy Since She is NOT MARRIED?
I do not know why all of the liberal Republican feminists love the fact that Sarah Palin is a Mom, and her oldest daughter Brystal is pregnant out of wedlock.. And, her daughter Brystal is having a 'shotgun' wedding to make the baby legitimate because her mother is the new VP candidate for the GOP. Brystal has been pregnant for 5 months. Why is she just now deciding to get married? Sarah Palin is a hunter, loves guns and the NRA; and I imagine she wears the pants in her household. Being a Mom does NOT qualify Sarah Palin or anyone else to be the best Vice President of the United States? If Sarah Palin had spent more time taking care of her children instead of being a Mayor and a Governor, maybe her daughter would not have become pregnant at 17 years old. What career plans does Sarah Palin's daughter have? Usually 17 year old teenagers who become pregnant have personal issues with their families.
It's clear by the the way you phrased your question that you are trying to make the point that conservatives should frown upon Sarah Palin because of this...

If I had to guess, you are a Democrat, and if I'm right about that, why are you picking on a poor teenage girl having a baby out of wedlock? Do you feel compassion for everyone, or only for fellow liberals?

I think you should send a portion of your welfare check to Palin's daughter to show how much you care about people in need.

Speaking for myself I find it refreshing that they did not have her go get a quick abortion...She is not the first politicians daughter to get pregnant just probably one of the only who did not have an abortion. If you were in my community and you were 17 I would not shun you or say you were going to hell. I would be proud of you for being strong and not giving in to the easy choice in the culture of death we are living in.
Believe it or not, conservatives are realists, too. I am a conservative Democrat. Doesn't mean I don't know that teenagers have sex and that there are way too many teenagers getting pregnant.

Once upon a time, as you said, we had the specter of pregnancy hanging over our heads to keep us chaste. No more. Seems like it is no big deal anymore.

No matter how we might hope our kids will listen to us, kids will do what kids will do. All the loving, nurturing parenting in the world can not keep a child from making a misstep here and there, and sometimes the consequences are lifelong.

That being said, I had my first child at eighteen, and that was 45 years ago, so it's not like it is something new in the world.

Look, it happens all the time, and has happened since time began. Conservative or not, I think the only way to confront human nature is to teach your child the values you hope they will adopt, and make sure they have education and access to birth control and techniques of safe sex to protect themselves.

I think there's an answer in there somewhere. I meant for there to be.
Wait...it's none of our business that Sarah Palin, who's running to the be the second most important person in one of the most powerful nations on Earth has a daughter who has a illegitmate kid at 17....

However, it's totally worth a constitutional amendment to stop Sulu from Star Trek from marrying his boyfriend??

    Logic abounds!
Real conservatives aren't so narrow-minded. They follow certain values and try their best to teach those values to others, but in end life happens and it is not able to be controlled. What's important is to support each other through life's challenges as they happen.

At least they don't think of the baby as a punishment.
    When I heard about it, my first thought was, ';oh boy, here we go.';

Look, whatever your personal views are about out-of-wedlock sex, we all know that things happen and people make choices and there are consequences. Anyone who is a parent knows that you don't have much influence after, oh, about what age? Maybe 14? Probably depends on the kid, but you do your best and then they make their own choices.

So, it doesn't change my opinion of Palin, because I know she's a mom who is doing her best, just like me. And, I know that, while they are putting on their smiley faces for the public, I'm sure there were a few things said behind closed doors. You know there were a few freak-outs, but that part is a family matter. I wish the mother-to-be well, and I hope she and her husband-to-be will really work hard to make their marriage work, because heaven knows, they've got a few strikes against them from the start. I applaud them for getting married, even at their young age. I think adoption is the best choice, and marriage is the second best choice in situations like these.

Politically, it is disappointing, because it becomes fodder for attacks from the Dems.
I think you have to understand that everyone in life makes mistakes, and even when Obama was asked this exact same question he said candidate's families should be left out of elections and even though something like that happened, it does not have anything to do with how a person will run our country. Very noble of Obama to say.
I view it as a very unfortunate situation and a very bad mistake for a young woman, but there isn't any option at this point for the Palin family to band together and do all they can to help give the new baby the best life they can. She isn't the first teenager to get pregnant and won't be the last.
Well, I can say this ... God doesn't hate the person, he only hates the sin. God sent Jesus to save us from our sins, not to judge us. We need to be graceful and forgiving in this case, and with all children caught in this predicament.

And now I will tell you my grand daughter came about the same way, I was mad at first, but she is now the light of my life ... All children are blessings form God, whether born or unborn and whether married or not.
I am a conservative but even I understand cultures change. While I disagree with it, it is no longer about whether or not she is married, but the welfare of the child.

No matter what, it happened. Now she simply needs to look to the future. So does a lot of other people, but they won't.
    Please consider

since BOTH the Democrat and Republican offerings for candidates are seriously lacking in qualifications and moral standing.....

Would U consider voting for the NOT a Democrat and NOT a Republican?

    Think about it!
I wonder if she attended a school that didn't teach sex ed, you know, follwing Bush's faith based programs so they can get more money. Keep 'em uneducated about sex, and cross your fingers that horny, curious teens aren't going to screw around.
That is exactly how the far right christian conservatives will treat Sarah and her family. They will see this as an embarrassment and demand she be replaced. The far christian right have a very narrow view of Christianity.
Most of the conservative religious people are standing behind her because she is walking the walk, not just talking the talk. I am standing behind her because she is the best person for the job.
Republicans are thin-skinned hypocrites. If the situation were reversed, the Repukes would be calling for a public lynching. Instead, they're trying to say that trailer-trash morals are fine.
I believe you mean social conservatives. Many people today are fiscal conservatives and social liberals (or moderates).

    As for your question.

    Its not my problem.
Why can't you people follow the wise counsel of Barack Obama and regard this family matter to be NOT AN ISSUE?

The thumbs down tell me you repukes want it to be an issue.
I don't know, but those evangelicals sure know how to pop out the illegitimate children, don't they!?
I think many may be disappointed about it however, they Will be pleased she is not getting an abortion.
THings have changed. It is a normal occurrence to see an un-wed mother. I think it has nothing to do with this election and should be left alone.
    Follow Plan B get married.
Pretty bad decision... at least she is taking ownership of it though instead of saying that society made her a slut.

yes. that was then. better the family shows love, caring and support.

How long must i my stay married for to keep my green card?

Hi i was wondering if someone could please help me out?How long must i my stay married for to keep my green card?
well said Candis65 (US or any other country tho)How long must i my stay married for to keep my green card?
Generally, if you are married less than two years after you become a permanent resident your marriage will be considered to have been a sham marriage.

There are exigent circumstances that you will find on the I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions of residency.
    Hi !

You could call the Dept of immigration and find out! It is illegal to marry someone just for the purpose of getting to stay in the U.S.

    Have a great day!
Once you receive your Unconditional Permanent Residency (not the temporary conditional one) you no longer need to stay married to keep it.

It is not illegal to hold off your separation if your marriage was authentic. However, if you go through a final interview, it is illegal to lie about your relationship to the immigration officers in order to finalize you permanent residency.
that is just plain wrong. how would your partner feel after they find out you just used them? it's not human, it's cruel. sorry but it is.

We're planning to get married in the US but I'd like to know which country is easier to get married in: Canada or the US? Which one's cheaper, which one's less time consuming and which one's less stricter on immigration issues like this? I'd also would like to know what way is the easiest to get married. They're probably the same but I still would like to know. Thank you in advance. Which country is easier to get married in?
Well as far as getting married, you can go to vegas and get your marriage liscense, ceremony all done in about 30 mins. Cost is as low as $100.

Which country is easier to get married in?
    why bother stay single

My fiance and I are getting married in November, can we file a joint return?

My fiance and I are getting married in the beginning of November and I heard if we're married before December 31, then we would be considered married the whole year, Is this true?My fiance and I are getting married in November, can we file a joint return?
    From IRS publication 501:

';Married persons. If you are considered married for the whole year, you and your spouse can file a joint return, or you can file separate returns.

Considered married. You are considered married for the whole year if on the last day of your tax year you and your spouse meet any one of the following tests.

    1. You are married and living together as husband and wife.

    2. You are living together in a common law marriage that is recognized in the state where you now live or in the state where the common law marriage began.

    3. You are married and living apart, but not legally separated under a decree of divorce or separate maintenance.

    4. You are separated under an interlocutory (not final) decree of divorce. For purposes of filing a joint return, you are not considered divorced.';

So as long as you're married on Dec. 31st, you can file joint.

Also ownlee_me, you can't file as a single, though you could do married filing single, but usually that's not a good idea.My fiance and I are getting married in November, can we file a joint return?
Correct. As long as you are married before 2007 rings in, you are good to file joint.
yes, as long as you are married before Dec 31
Yes. And you'll get a tax break as well. As Long as you are married by Dec 31 you'll file joinly for that entire year.
I don't know. I got married in July and we are doing seperate taxes this year since we weren't married for half of the year.
Yes you can file a joint return. You are right, if you are married before dec 31st you do file a joint. Same as if you had a baby Dec. 31 @ 11:58 pm you can still use that child on ur tax return. As long as it happen before 12am on jan 1st. Besides, you'll get a good refund since you have been claiming single the other months. So congradulation on the new marriage!!

Ownlee me--- U can alway Amend you return. If you feel that you could of file jointly. You will have to filed married separtly if you are in a trans to gettin divorced or just legally separted. Not if you just married and was only married half of the year. If you were just married, in the tax law, u are concidered married all year. True for common law marriages too.
Yes, you will be able file jointly. The December 31 cutoff is correct.

  • How important is it for a married person to wear a wedding ring?

I've notice that a married person does not wear a wedding ring.

I, especially, noticed that married men don't wear a wedding ring.

Dosen't a wedding ring symbolize your everlasting love to the person whom you're married to?

Doesn't a wedding ring symbolize the fact that you've forsaken others and that you're committed to that person until death do you part? How important is it for a married person to wear a wedding ring?
Some men don't wear their wedding rings because of their occupation. A wedding ring can get caught in equipment cause amputation. Some of these occupations include: mechanics, construction workers, machine operators. Some employers in the construction/mechanic arena absolutely forbid the wearing a ring for the safety of their employees. If a man gets used to not wearing their ring for work, he will not remember to put it on after work.

Yes, I agree that both the man %26amp; woman should wear their wedding rings as it is a symbol of their committment to each other. It is definitely more common for a man not to wear his ring than a woman. How important is it for a married person to wear a wedding ring?
i agree with you, but people have different reasons for not wearing theirs. for example, some people have jobs where they work with their hands, and they choose to not wear their rings to make sure they don't get damaged, and some employers of such jobs don't allow any jewelry. if a ring got caught in some kind of machine, they could lose a finger. also, i've known several people who were waiters or bar tenders that didn't wear their rings while working, because then they can flirt with their customers and get better tips.
I dont know of any married people who dont wear their rings. Unless its required by their jobs that they dont wear them, usually that would be a job where they work with their hands and the ring causes a hazard, everyone wears their rings where I am from.
I am allergic to metal (gold, silver) so I only wear mine when we are going somewhere special (and only for short periods of time). My husband's job prevents him from wearing his. We don't need rings to show our everlasting love or our commitment to each other-we know that in our hearts

My husband is lucky that he has an excuse to refrain from buying jewelry
i do not wear mine because i got married young and after gaining muscle weight in boot camp it was too small, but have lost a lot of weight, maybe I will try it on again....guess what? just put it back on after 10 years...fits perfect.....thank you
the wedding ring means all those things. However most men that work with their hands do not wear it for protective reasons.
I think I will proudly wear mine when we get married.

My job or hobbies aren't excuses not to wear them, but after reading a few of these answers, some people with certain jobs may have a difficult time or it may be risky for them to wear it.

    I can't wait 'till I wear mine.
Well, if your like my fiance- he is not allowed to wear it to work because he could seriously hurt himself. Therefore I know he's never going to wear it unless we are going out somewhere nice. My father also doesn't wear his wedding band after almost cutting off his finger completely at work when the band hooked on to a piece of machinery. Luckily he only needs stitches because the band snapped and released his finger....

It really depends on your life style and what type of work you do. Like all the clay artist I know, don't normally wear bands because it's more of a pain taking it off every time they have to work.
most men cant wear their wedding rings because of the job they have. my father used to wear his all the time and then almost lost his finger at work so he stopped wearing it. he just started wearing it again because now he is retired. and sometimes the man dont want to wear it because they are not use to wearing rings. other times woman go for men with wedding rings on as do men.
I have noticed men not wear them as well. I don't understand that.

Your interpretation of the wedding band is PERFECT!!!
in our culture the women wear a special chain to indicate that we are married. the men don wear any such thing.

but i ve stopped wearing it long time ago and i dont think its because i love my husband any less. i just found it unnecessary.

whether i choose to show others my love for my husband or not, does not affect the way we feel about eachother. thats more important.
A wedding ring is a physical symbol of love and commitment. Not to wear one is just wrong. It display a lack of respect for your spouse and the marriage.
    Its personal preference really.

A lot of jobs don't allow you to wear any rings (such as maintenance, nursing, surgery, mechanics, food processing, etc...) Also, people who work a lot with their hands have a tendancy to damage their rings, so they don't wear it at all times.

The only time I don't wear mine is when I'm either working on something or attending Tae Kwon Do/Weapons training.
Yeah some guys have a legitimate excuse.of not being alowed to wear it for safety reasons at work.

And other guys are just players...

they dont want you to know they are married ......

What is the biggest difference between married and Single in the service?

i hear that married ppl get to pick Thar accommodations eg on base or a apt if there owen and Higher pay and benefits any comments .What is the biggest difference between married and Single in the service?
When I was active duty, I was single, then got married so I've seen both worlds. I got more money for being married, but that's because I had more expenses. I got to move out of single barracks and into housing. I was stationed in Germany, and since on post was availible, thats where I went. Sometimes you can pick were you live, and sometimes not. It depends on the housing office on your base. The one here is crappy. If you don't them personally, you get treated like crap. Benifits are still the same... but here overseas, I can have 2 cars in my name instead of one! Woot! Haha. Hope this helped. What is the biggest difference between married and Single in the service?
if your married you can live off base, they give you a housing allowance (BAH) how much they give you depends on your rank, but as an e4 I get over 1000 a month just for housing, and you can find pretty cheap appartments which means you pocket the rest of the BAH. You also get a food allowance, which is about 300 a month. When you deploy you get all that plus family seperation pay.

You can get on post housing too, but they take all of your BAH. Actually I would rather live in post housing so you dont have to get up so early or wait forever to get through the gate.
There is really no difference Except:

    If married:

-You will receive BAH, NOT BAQ. BAH is what it is called now. This is the basic allowance for housing. This is dependent on having at least 1 dependent (it doesn't matter if you have 4 kids and one wife, it all equals 1 dependent). You will receive BAH to help offset the cost of housing off-post. You will not receive BAH (sort of) to live on post. You will be able to get ';free'; housing when you live on-post.

---Single Soldiers who want to move out of the barracks must either get married or gain a certain rank usually E5 or above then they will receive BAH but if they are single and receiving BAH, they get it at the without dependents rate.

http://www.military.com/benefits/militar鈥?/a> BAH is based on rank, where the Soldier is stationed, and with or without dependents

-Married Soldiers also receive BAS: basic allowance for subsistence. This is to help offset what the Soldier eats since he will not have a meal card to eat in the DFAC (dining Facility) like Soldiers will have. Soldiers who move off-base will start to get this also.

    http://www.defenselink.mil/militarypay/p鈥?/a>

-All Soldiers who live OCONUS (overseas like Germany, Italy, Hawaii, Alaska,Japan, Korea) will receive COLA (cost of living allowance) but this is based on number of dependents you have. And each child and your spouse count with COLA. But every Soldier will receive some type of pay for COLA.

-When a Soldier is deployed and he is married or has custody of children than he will receive Family Separation Allowance. This is $250 per month after the Family and Soldier has been separated more than 30 days.

These are the only entitlements that being married gets a Soldier but as you can see even Single Soldiers get the first two sooner or later and will receive the 3rd one if they PCS overseas. The only pay benefit that a single Soldier will not get is the Family Separation. That is it.

There is no higher Base pay for being married. There is no better benefits. A single Soldier receives the same medical, dental, eye, etc., that a married Soldier receives. Both single and married Soldiers receive the same time for leave 2.5 days per month. Both have to go through the same promotion system, both can be deployed, both can get extra duty, both can get Article 15's, both work ';overtime'; until the job is done, etc.,.
    Married -

    Sam Base Pay

    Same BAS

Slightly higher BAH or base housing ($300 difference for an E-6, but rent for a 3 br is twice as much as a 2 br in our area!)

Slightly higher COLA for locations that receive COLA (current base... $40 difference for an E-6)

That's it. Nothing else. Unless you want to subtract the $12/$30 a month they take out for the dental plan (1 dep / 2 or more).
I was single but I got all the benefits of being married financially by claiming my over 18 years old sister as a dependent, sent her an allotment check from my pay in an amount to qualify and then she'd cash it and send me the money back. Meanwhile I got BAQ and comrats while living on base. made about an extra 500 a month tax free. Gotta know how to work the system.
You do get more pay, but you have to remember that the extra pay you receive is for 2 people....not just you.

    If you have enough rank, you might get on post housing. But if you don't have the rank, then enjoy renting on the local ';F**k th G.I. Over Economy.';

#3, cme2bleve.....I don't believe what you are saying for one second. AKA, I believe your lying. I'll bet though you are one of those who b*tch, cry and complain about others on welfare %26amp; food stamps....while at the same time, your doing even worst. Especially, if what you claim to be doing is true.
Married people ge BAQ, Basic Assistance for Quarters and ar generally assigned larger accommodations. Either an apartment or house.
A lot more money and better living conditons. You get nearly 50% more in some areas, don't have to eat at a chow hall and get to pick you apartment with a private kitchen and bathroom. It's really not fair to the bachelors.

I am Brazilian and just got married to an American. I am on a student visa in America. How do I apply for PR?

How do I go about applying for permanent residence? How long will it take? Can I get citizenship after that?I am Brazilian and just got married to an American. I am on a student visa in America. How do I apply for PR?
Well, there's a fair amount of paperwork involved. your American spouse will need to file an I-130 immigrant visa petition, an I-485 adjustment of status form, and a work authorization request. It's a bit expensive, over $1300, and all the forms need to be filed together or things will get messed up. It takes quite a while for USCIS to get it all done, up to two years sometimes, but you'll be here legally while you wait, and you'll be able to work. You can't leave the US though while it's all being done unless you get Advance Parole first. If you leave without it, you won't be able to return until you have an immigrant visa. Check out uscis.gov for more information and downloadable forms, and read the instruction form for the I-485 very carefully. I am Brazilian and just got married to an American. My 86 year old grandfather married a 32 year old woman, now she is my grandmother?

My 86 year old grandfather married a 32 year old woman, is she my grandmother now?

I am 42 and I find weird and ridiculous to think that someone 10 years younger than me is my grandmother.

How should I call her?My 86 year old grandfather married a 32 year old woman, now she is my grandmother?
I'd call her by her first name. I doubt even she would be happy being called ';grandma'; or ';meemaw'; or something like that. My 86 year old grandfather married a 32 year old woman, now she is my grandmother?
She is not your grandmother. She is simply your grandfather's wife. Just how rich is the old dude? I don't blame him for wanting a young wife in his last years and Viagra makes it possible for him to service the woman BUT - I am 64 and I couldn't stand the thought of smooching with an old codger of 86. This woman is a gold-digger for sure so call her ';Grannie Goldie'; to let her know you're on to her - and then leave them be.
just call her by her name and i think your right that is very weird and i would not like calling someone who is ten years younger then me grandmother either and i don't think she would like being called grandmother either by the way she sounds like a gold digger to me just watch out for her and make sure your grandfather doesn't do something stupid
    Haha..some answers are so funny..

    wow,this is a record.

well, you can't blame your grandpa for wanting a younger women,i bet she's hot too...

if i were you,i would just call her first name, honestly, there's no 32 year old that wants to be call 'granny' unless you want to get under her skin.

    sorry,but i think this is funny,but true.
Call her by her first name, since she is after all your step-grandmother. It is a bit weird--the age differences, but if she makes your grandfather happy just get along with her.
I would call her by her first name although yes, she would be considered your step-grandmother.

I find it weird, too. I bet she's a gold digger and is hoping to inherit all of your grandfather's money/belongings when he dies.
You should definitely not call her grandmother if you are not comfortable. I would just call her by her name. She cannot possibly get upset about that.
just call her by her first name. there is nothing you can do about your grandfathers decision so just try to be polite even if you are weirded out by it.
She is your step-grandmother. I would call her by her first name. I imagine she may be as uncomfortable about her relationship with you as you are with her.
    technically, she is your step-grandmother

in today's blended family situations, i think the best thing to do is to ask her what she feels comfortable being called

    she will appreciate your gesture
Call her by her name. When addressing who she is to people, tell them she is your grandfather's bride.

    Hat's off to your Grandfather!
Is she thai or filipino ? Anyway I would call her by her name, after all she is just your grandfathers wife not your grandmother.
Ask her what she'd like to be called or ask your grandfather what you should call her.

No, she is not your grandmother.
Technically, she is your step-grandmother, I guess. You call her by her name, I'd imagine. How awkward.
just call her by name and have your grandpa know in advance that how you are feeling towards to her because of this odd sound marraige
IF she wants to marry an old man like that then by all means call her Granny.... If she gets freaked out so be it... IT's no freakier then her marrying your granddad

I think 'cheesecake' would be appropriate.
You are adult, so just call her by her name...What is your grandfather doing with a 32 years..
Oh, that is awesome. Call her ';Granny'; just to get under her skin.
By her name is definitely your best choice. (wow they are 54 years apart!) lol sorry just had to point out the obvious...
    Gold-digger
    Granny
you should respect her at the same time see the age factor and call her by her name if she is comfortable
thats sick and wrong just call her by her name i would if i was u thats wrong!!! x
    Gold digger seems appropriate!!! lol
By her first name, honestly old people can be a disgrace!
    By her name ?
Just call her from her first name...

    That's what I do with my stepfather... I don't call him ';Dad';

I am Catholic but was married outside the church. Can I still receive the sacrament of marriage?

My husband is protestant and we intend to remain married. I regret now that I wasn't married in the church/tradition I grew up in and was wondering if it's still possible to receive the sacrament of marriage?I am Catholic but was married outside the church. Can I still receive the sacrament of marriage?
Yes, all you have to do is have your marriage convalidated, then you can receive all the other sacraments. Some people call it having your marraige blessed but that is inaccurate. Your marraige is already blessed. Your husband does not have to convert, but he will have to agree to raise the children Catholic. There are too many reasons to fully explain all the teaching behind the practice in just a few paragraphs, but that answers your question in a nut shell.

here are some resosurces for you:

Bringing Your Marriage Into the Church

How to have a marriage convalidated or acknowledged in the Catholic Church

    http://www.ehow.com/how_4615814_marriage鈥?/a>

It would be a good idea to attend Mass when you can, and make an appointment to talk to the priest.

Welcome home:)I am Catholic but was married outside the church. Can I still receive the sacrament of marriage?
The cure for this situation is to just be married. The first marriage according to Catholic Doctrine is doubtfully valid, many versions of the ceremony exist and you might not be able to get a copy of the words used in it.

If the Protestant party intends to not convert, then the ceremony is not held in the church, but in the sacristy to the side, if there is one.

Of course, the Conciliarists have rewritten the Canon Laws in 1983, twenty years after they had already been changing the sacramental matter and form, so perhaps they also changed what Trent says on lawful matrimonial ceremonies.
I was married in a catholic church, my hubby has no religion(he believes he just doesnt have a religion). I had to go to a class and then I could get married in the church..talk to the Father at your church...you may just have to get re-married. Your hubby doesn't have to convert...but if he loves you he should get married in a church so that you will feel better about yourself. Maybe you can just have a simple small ceremony to pacify the church.
I'm not positive, but I think he needs to be Catholic, too, in order for it to be considered a sacrament in the Church. Don't hold me to this, because I'm not sure...

I think the Catechism of the Catholic Church is online somewhere, I would definitely go check that out and see what it says.

    Best of luck!
The Church probably already recognizes your marriage. It can and will bless the marriage bond that already exists.

This is called a Convalidation of Marriage. Here is an article about the steps involved: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newslett鈥?/a>

Talk to your parish priest to get the process started.

For more information, see the Code of Canon Law, paragraphs 1156 and following: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG1104/__鈥?/a>

With love and prayers in Christ.
They will probably require you to take marriage encounter/counseling classes first. It was required last I heard of any couple marrying in the Church. Best bet though is checking with your local parish. They might wave that part if you have been together for awhile.
Yes you can still be married in the Church, since the Church does not see you as married currently. A Catholic can marry a non-Catholic in the Catholic Church. It happens all the time.
Sure it is, possible. As long as you have no impediments to marriage, you can have your marriage blessed and recognized by the Church. Pax Christi
Yes of course you can.All you must do is have you and your Husband meet with the Priest and make arrangements to have your marriage blessed and confirmed in the Catholic Church.
Just go talk to the priest have your marriage blessed then you can receive the sacraments.Yes you can get married again in the church.
So you're asking if believing in one false myth lets you join in an imaginary cerimony with someone believing in another false myth? mmmm...let's see now...ok...here's my answer....who cares?
So why are you now in such a tizzy? You kinda answered your own question, which shows how much of a cult the Catholicism really is! You are suppose to have a ';relationship'; with Jesus, not a traditional dog and pony show! Get over it, and love your hubby, and Jesus, I did the same thing, the ONLY reason was to get my folks off my back, just made a mess of our relationship, wasn't worth it at all!.Brought no glory to The Lord, just my folks to save face in the church.

  • Divorced people who want get married should not be allowed a christian ceremony do you agree ?

I think they should as i don't see why they should just cause they were unlucky the 1st time round .Divorced people who want get married should not be allowed a christian ceremony do you agree ?
No I don't. I am divorced, and got re-married in a church. Nobody had a problem with it.Divorced people who want get married should not be allowed a christian ceremony do you agree ?
I believe there are 3 valid reasons for divorce and those reasons I believe god would agree and forgive. They are adultery, abuse and addiction. In those cases, I believe the divorce to be recognized by god and therefore a christian ceremony for the next marriage is appropriate.

    Red
Well God said that divorces are ok if your spouse sins. So don't see it as they were unlucky the first time things happen. not everything lasts forever. people learn from there mistakes but that doesn't mean if they want to get married again that they should be forced to marry in a court room. if they are christian than there is no problem.

So NO i do not agree with ur answer
you are so wrong. i got divorced cause my ex was an abusive drunk. I am not staying with some who gets so drunk that he passed out in his food while he is eating and calls me really mean rotten nasty named and who throws me against the wall by my throat and who has punched me in the back of my neck
Even the Catholic Church who is adament against divorce allows annulments (and thus, remarriage in the Catholic Church) under certain circumstances.

So no, I don't agree. There are many reasons that people get divorced.
I think it seriously depends on the circumstances for the divorce. The bible allows divorce for certain reasons.
People divorce for alot of different reasons and shouldnt be judged becuz they have been married b4.
    disagree
i do not agree god does forgive remember that
    are you even married?
Nope... do not agree at all.

My fiance and I bought a home last year. We are not married yet and need to do our taxes?

We need to claim our mortgage interest and taxes, and are filing separately. Should just one of us claim all the interest, or can we split it up?My fiance and I bought a home last year. We are not married yet and need to do our taxes?
Since you are not married then by law you can only file as single; unless one of you has children and can claim head of household. Only one can claim mortgage interest and property taxes on an itemized return. My fiance and I bought a home last year. We are not married yet and need to do our taxes?
My fiancee and I are in the same situation. We have a CPA prepare our taxes and I believe she gives us two options.

    1) Have the person with the higher income claim 100%, or 2) splitting the taxes down the middle

Don't really think it makes much difference either way, but a CPA would be able to tell you how to maximize your return.

This is not something I would personally attempt without professional help. When I bought my house, I stopped doing my own taxes.
In this situation it would probably be best for one to claim the interest deduction, whichever one the 1099-int is sent to. You can split the interest between the two of you, but one of you will have to pick up the interest as income. Ex:The 1099 is in the bf's name. He can claim the interest deduction. Or he can split it with the GF, but he will have to list the amount claimed on her return as interest income. It can get very confusing and the way that will most likely be the most beneficial is with one claiming the deduction.

Income tax deduction question for married business people?

It's common for business owners to deduct certain expenses such as car mileage etc. Can the business owner still claim the deduction if some of the mileage was driven on his or her spouse's car (for instance because the main ';business car'; was stuck in the shop waiting for a part for a few weeks, the business had to be run on the family car for a while). ThanksIncome tax deduction question for married business people?
You may use the mileage method for any car that you own. If the car is leased (a regular lease, not a purchase lease) or if you use a rental car (from Avis, Hertz, etc.) then you can only use the actual cost.

    I hope this helps.

GaryIncome tax deduction question for married business people?
Yes, it is permissible. As long as you have the written documentation, you are fine.
It doesnt matter whose name is on the car. If you used it and kept records you can use it.

If the normal person you married became a hoarder and refused to change would you divorce them?

I know a hoarder and have developed a feeling of disgust/repulsion when I think of them because of how their useless consumption and what their house looks like. They were once normal. If I were married to one I can't imagine putting up with it.If the normal person you married became a hoarder and refused to change would you divorce them?
Hoarding is a symptom of a deeper illness. I don't know about divorce but I would not live with them any more. To live with, is to enable the behavior. If he never changed, I suppose over the years I might want a divorce but I can't say for sure.

And I agree, the behavior is repulsive. If the normal person you married became a hoarder and refused to change would you divorce them?
Hoarding is sometimes a sign of previous abuse or neglect as a child. My grandma grew up in the Great Depression era of the 1930s and went through bad times with little food, and alot of siblings. She was a hoarder. Not too bad, but still annoying. I think the person needs your help and compassion. It's a difficult thing, but realize that they probably have fears and hoarding settles those fears. I think my grandmother was always afraid that we were going to have another Great Depression. Maybe this person fears that bad things will happen too.
No way would I divorce them. I'd try to find somewhere cheap to put all their stuff. Shoot if it bothered me that bad I'd move out, but not get a divorce. Make them come to my house as much as possible.
If you loved the person then you would learn to deal with it one way or another. It doesn't neccesarily mean letting the other person just indulge in their obsession. It means helping them thru the whole situation. It's a mental illness that manifests and most of the time just gets worse. Jay Leno recently said he was a hoarder but his wife keeps him in check by just throwing stuff out like his mom did. When you are married, you must find a way to work thru your problems and you can't give up on someone because of this. I'm sure you wouldn't leave your spouse if they became diabetic down the road bc you were used to them being ';normal';. You find a way no matter what.
Yes if they couldn't overcome it. No offense but I wouldn't be able to live that way. I feel sorry for the kids and spouses who has a person that does it.
Maybe....? I really dont kno but probably no I would try to get them help, or when they're not around I'd try to throw away a few things a day to get rid of the clutter little by little so they dont notice
I can't imagine myself living in a place full of junk , this will irritate me greatly . The problem can be solved by reasoning and talking if not then by force , meaning to throw away all the junk even if that will get them mad because they don't want to listen to reason . I wouldn't let something wrong to go on without taking an action and force what I see right . But divorce , no of course not , there is always a way to solve things without getting a divorce . If these people are parents then it is different as one is not going to live with them forever, and they should receive special , very kind and patient treatment .

K1 Visa or just get married in the states do the paperwork later?

Last year, my first wife left me. I waited 6 months to file for a dissolution of marriage in case she changed her mind. Then it was another 6 months for the dissolution to be final. So it's going to be final in two weeks. Now I'm planning to marry a girl from Belgium. She's currently living with me on a tourist visa that lasts 3 months. Should I fly her back to Europe and file for a K1 visa and then bring her back. Or should I just marry her as soon as my divorce is final March 1 and worry about paperwork later? Please help me. My concerns: I don't want to be apart from her for more than 2 weeks. She's pregnant due in August with our baby. Money isn't a huge concern but if there is a way to save a couple hundred I'm interested. Mostly I just want her to be a citizen ASAP. Help!K1 Visa or just get married in the states do the paperwork later?
The previous posters gave excellent answers. While it is not illegal to marry on a tourist visa if there was no intent to marry upon entry to the US, it IS illegal to enter the US on a tourist visa with the sole intention of marrying and remaining, even though people do it all the time and are successful. The K-1 %26amp; K-3 were created to limit these types of applications.

Also, filing for permanent residency from a tourist visa takes much longer than from a valid visa, which means obtaining work permits and such take much longer also.

It is also not true that just because a person is married to a US citizen they cannot be deported.K1 Visa or just get married in the states do the paperwork later?
Marry her...I married my wife from Colombia in the US, because she had a tourist visa, it is quicker (A fiance can take from 6 months to a year) and once you get married she can not be deported...it took about 4 months to get my wife's work permit...
Why, marry on a tourist visa? She'll never be able to adjust her status because if you do, she will commit immigration fraud. She went there as a tourist, on a tourist visa, her purpose supposed to be tourism, instead she marries. If you marry and then will try to adjust her status, it will never happen, she will be sent back, and then won't be able to come back for years, until she apply for a waiver which can be denied. And the baby will be considered as an anchor baby, and will just aggravate the fact of the fraud.

Either do a fiance visa or marry her in Belgium and do a spouse visa (though marriage in Belgium is very tedious, lot of paperwork).

People on student and work visas can marry. And even then it should not happen when they just enter the country, and it should be long-term visas. These can adjust their statuses.

If you want it safe, you should get her out of the country asap. When she is OUT, send the papers for the K1. It's much more quicker now, and you do not have to go anywhere, what for?

Spouse visa is very quick, perhaps 3 to 4 months.
So the thing is. You can marry someone on VWP.

Adjustment of status from VWP is tricky. Technically you commited a crime, since you promised that you are not going to immigrate. Adjustment of status from VWP has no appeal, if your case is denied.

However, a lot of people did it successfully (some had problems though). You case is easier. Baby shows that its a geniune marriage (one of concerns of denial GC for people on VWP). Baby shows that it would be difficult for her to move there and back in order to go throgh K1 route. So its Your choice.

But it would be better for her not to accrue any illegal presence.

    Just my 2 cents.

NOTE: Sorry VWP - Visa Waiver Program. Thsi is how europeans can get to US for 90 days just with passport, no visa. Sorry I got used to all abbreviations

How do I go about depositing a large check in my maiden name, into my new account that is in my married?

Can't I just write '; for deposit only';? I just don't want to screw up the relationship with the new bank. How do I go about depositing a large check in my maiden name, into my new account that is in my married?
sign and deposit...bank will wait for it to clear before they let you have any cash. How do I go about depositing a large check in my maiden name, into my new account that is in my married?
Sign the check with your maiden name and then directly below it, sign your married name.
I was married 2 years ago and still occasionally get things in my maiden name. I had a copy of my marriage license put on file at the bank, and have it set up so that if I get something in my maiden name, I let them know, and then I sign both names on the back of the check (like I'm signing it over to my married self).

They get this stuff all the time, don't worry-- just go in and explain and have the paperwork they need and you'll have no problem.
first of all I would sign the back of the check your maiden name and then sign it again your married name and then let the teller know that you are just depositing the check atleast that way you have the names both covered and you are depositing the check so you can just wait for the funds to clear and you could always ask the teller too she or he should know.
i would deposit it, i don't think i would go through the drive up, go into the bank and tell them you just got married and received a check with your maiden name on it, they will more then likely ask for some id, they might hold the check to make sure it clears it just depends on the bank you are with

  • What would you do if you had a bisexual friend that was married kids and started sleeping with another female?

In this situation the female seems like the type of person that want you to do what she says do and if you don't she have a ***** fit. She treat her worst than her own husband do but I just want to fight the girl for even treating her like that because I don't think its right anyway. I don't treat her like that I damn sure not going to let her treat her like that. She try to tell her what to where, where she can and can't go, and what she can and can't wear to the club but yet when they are togher she wanna act like they not even not a couple. She's known for just a whole bunch of talk and ain't got hands for nothing. Should I fight her or should just leave her alone let my friend handle it on her own? She complains how my friend don't spend time with her but she always ask her what they going to do being that she always complaining and she so much of a drama queen that her response is always an excuse as to why she can't go out with my friend. I want to get married in the Outer Banks, NC and rent a house on the oceanfront. Do I need to provide housing?

I was planning on providing housing for my parents and my bridal party. Also, is it ok to ask some of the bridal party to sleep on pull out couches? Do I need to provide housing for other guests? I live in PA.I want to get married in the Outer Banks, NC and rent a house on the oceanfront. Do I need to provide housing?
it's very generous if you can provide housing for your guests but it is not necessary.

most people will check hotels in the area and see about reserving a block of rooms that the guests can get a discount on. You'll have to contact the hotels directly to discuss discounted rates for rooms

as to asking your bridal party to sleep on pull out couches, if you're paying for their room then that's fine. If they don't like it then they can pay for their own room.I want to get married in the Outer Banks, NC and rent a house on the oceanfront. Do I need to provide housing?
First of all, you chose a lovely location for your wedding :) I vacation there every year.

About the housing, it is very generous to provide the housing. And i think it is acceptable to ask the bridal party to sleep on pull out couches -- they're not horrible.

But they aren't staying in your same house and they? Because you could rent a small oceanfront cottage for you and your fiance. There are tons of small motels that are also oceanfront, and they are clean and inexpensive -- that you could reserve for your family and bridal party for how long they're staying.

Also, you could check out the ';Dune Lantern'; at milepost 15.5 in Nags Head. Me and my family stay at that place every year because they are huge 2 Bdr/2Bth condos with a wonderful view -- All from $500 a week to like $1500 a week depending on the time of year you go.

Tes. She is liable for a prison term and a large fine.
It is difficult to prove. Let them worry about it.
She could face a fine of $250,000 and a jail term of 5-10 years.

Try logging on to your circuit court of records website for your county. Each state is different but I believe you must apply for the license and pay a fee first. The license will become effect 24 hours after issued then you can get married before the judge anytime after that.
Try your local magistrate's office, the Justice of the Peace of your county where you reside can officiate.

What is the anticipated 2008 amount of standard deduction for a married person fiiing jointly?

I am trying to estimate what I might owe in Federal Tax for 2008. (trying to do a long-term picture of my budget). I will be filing married jointly--my husband does not work, and between the two of us, the only income, at this point in time (until I find a teaching job) will be 15,360.

If I am able to take the standard deduction, am I correct in thinking that i will also be able to claim a certain amount for my husband and myself? (married, claiming two?)What is the anticipated 2008 amount of standard deduction for a married person fiiing jointly?
This year it's $10,300, and will be up a little next year but not much.

Even with this year's amounts of $10,300 for the standard deduction and $6600 for your two exemptions, you wouldn't owe any tax on income under $16,900 unless some of it was from self-employment, so if your income is $15,360 you wouldn't owe any income tax. If you get a teaching job and your income goes up, though, you would. Good luck. What is the anticipated 2008 amount of standard deduction for a married person fiiing jointly?
The standard deduction for MFJ for 2006 returns is $10,300. For 2007 returns it will be a little higher, adjusted for inlfation. People who use the filing status MFJ in 2006 are entitled to $3,300 per exemption and a married couple have at least two exemptions -- themselves -- in addition to any children they may have. Next year will be the same except the exemption amount will be a little higher, again adjusted for inflation. If your income will truly be only $15,360, you will most likely not owe any taxes and will be entitled to a full refund of any monies withheld from your wages. Your best bet is to claim ';married'; with 2 exemptions on your W4 for any new job. That way your taxes are sure to be covered if your income goes up and you may even get a nice refund.

Why do people assume me and my girlfriend need to get married?

We have been living together for about a year, and been together about a year and a half. We have started talking about having a baby. Just because of that people think we should get married. Why does everyone think it's there business? Why should we get married just because we want a baby? Why do people assume me and my girlfriend need to get married?
Why would you bring a baby into a home where you aren't committed to each other?

The baby deserves better than that.

If you WERE committed, then you would be MARRIED.

    No marriage = no commitment.

    It's that simple.

My guess is that your folks and her folks are the ones who think it's THEIR (that's the right way to spell it, btw) business ... and they are right. It IS their business that their grandchild is raised by two parents who are fully committed to each other, and to the child. If you're not married, you're just playing house, that that's not enough for a baby.

If marriage didn't matter, it wouldn't exist. If it's ';just a piece of paper';, then why NOT do it?

It's time to man up and make it legal, my boy.

Why are you so afraid to do it?Why do people assume me and my girlfriend need to get married?
It is the ';norm'; to date, get married, move in and then have children. It is the way things are ';suppose'; to be. I can almost guarantee that the people telling you this are older than you, at least by 10 years. Im 28, but I must say, that maybe it is best to wait. Why not do things right, I mean, bibically. If you don't care about those types of things, then go for it and do what you want. But if you feel she is special enough to have your children, is she not special enough to be your wife also? I think maybe you guys should just enjoy each other and hold out on both. Or at least hold out on the baby. Remember once the baby comes you can't just pick up and go, and times are harder. Make sure you two can handle each other first, physically, emotionally and financially. My husband and I have lived together for about 2 years, married for one. Financially it can get pretty rough, and as much as I want a child, I know that having that said child would be very financially straining if not impossible.
Okay let's look at it this way, you and your G/F having been mentioning about having a child together and You get upset when people mention you both getting married. Who said she isn't thinking you will get married too. I must say most woman aren't ready to just give there life and have a child with a B/F and have no plans for the Future. she might think that you will want to get married soon by talking about a child and she agrees assuming you want to get married. did you ask her if she wants marriage or just assuming that she doesn't just because you are talking about a child and don't want marriage. I must say though I agree with some people if she's special enough to you to have your child then why not get married? did you plan on leaving her after the child at some point to be with someone else and her have your child too. Do you want to be just a Baby's daddy your whole life or mean something to someone. I bet you money if you told her that you want to have a kid but you don't want to marry her there will be a reaction. and people only suggest marriage also because it's best for the child to have a family full of love and unity and what is that child to think when he/she finds out there dad didn't want to marry there mother.
You you sure your girlfriend is really okay with never getting married? Or is she just saying that because she's afraid you'll be mad if she's honest about what she wants?

Do keep in mind that as long as you're not married, you'll have no say in matters relating to your girlfriend's health. For example, if something goes very wrong with the delivery and she requires a procedure but cannot consent, you will not be allowed to do so. Another family member will have to intervene.
everyone has 2 cents ... why are you so against that!

do you feel they might have a point and are you rebelling against that?

i don't think you should get married because your having a baby! but i will say if you do it will be easier on you all. why health insurance last night issues and a few other things that don't have any impact on the current time frame but in 10 years could!

but if you are talking about having a baby with other people and just giving out info and people are suggestion what they suggest it is their business as your making it their by talking about it!
What name will the child have?

What if something happens to your girlfriend in delivery? YOU will NOT be able to make any medical decisions for her because your just the boyfriend (unless you do the legal paperwork for it) and they will have to contact her parents! ! !

People love you and your girlfriend and want you to do things right! They are not trying to get in your ';business';! ! !
Don't get so defensive, you have chosen the ';nontraditional'; way. That is not to say that it is wrong. People just logically assume that this is how it will play out.

And if there are those who will judge, do you really care? As long as you and your partner and mature and consenting, and one is not agreeing simply to hang on to the other then to hell with everyone else.

There are no shoulds, as long as no one is getting hurt. Best of luck!
apparently you do care what others think or u wouldn't post the question.... simple answer - those that think God instituted marriage don't want to see you have a ';bastard'; for a child..... those that don't believe in God will simply say it's just a piece of paper --- either way ---we are all Fk'd up and everyone has oppinions - by the way in the end ';you be yourself'; .... don't be so easily offended...
    1. People are nosy, its not their business, just got to gossip.

    2. Its what we historically have done, its a carry over, used to be if you were illegitimate it was a big deal, not so much anymore. The word bastard is used quite commonly these days, many people may not realize that's what a child born out of wedlock is.
because people always have to put their 2 cents in.

%26amp; if you're not doing it the way they would you're in the wrong i suppose.

but you know what happens when people assume.

%26amp; in the end they wont be there taking on any responsibilities so don't let their views effect what you're planning. its your life.
People like to force their ideals upon others. That is just a simple fact. The best recourse for this is to ignore them. They aren't living your life and have no say whatsoever in what you do or don't do. The only weight the opinions of others have is that which you give them.
Well by having a kid together it means that you will always have something to do in each others lives and marriage completes that bond. It isn't really anybody's business but they all have morals and probably want you to do things right.
You don't have to but there are legal benefits to marriage, but if those people bother you that bad just tell them that you don't believe in marriage. Personally I do believe in marriage but I know a lot of people who don't and that's fine, each to their own.
the question is not why they want you to get married, as it is just a custom. The question is why do you care?. If none of these persons with such big opinions about your life takes the food you eat to your home, then why should you bother on what they say?.
Depends on YOUR faith. Do whats best for your child. I personally, would want to raise my child in a loving nulclear family where I'm married to the mother of my child. To me, it sets a positive example for my child to base their future relationships off of.
first come love then come marriage then come the baby in the baby carriage.

if you are going to make the choice to be in each other lives for the rest of your life by having a child why not get married?
Screw those people saying you have to its your choice if youo do or dont get married and they should be good friends and support your choice all the way

best of luck to you and hope you work things out :)
so the child is not born out of wedlock, and the people who care for you and want to show off the child would be very happy if you followed the norm of society.
prolly a religion thing. always get married before having a baby.. people did that to me.. and i have a 1 month old and still have yet to get married.. no worries*
they're probably looking out for ya.. what they think is best for the r/ship..

don't want their input then make it known that you don't need it or want it
Because that marriage certificate makes it a LOT tougher to cut %26amp; run if things get too tough. It proves you are committed to being good parents together for the rest of your lives.
Because there are already thousand of kids out here with single family. It needs to be two parents in the house that is all they are worried about.
Because most people associate having a baby with being married
Everyone has their own opinion.. personally though i would never ';plan'; to have a baby and not be married to the father.
    They always assume.
why are posting this question in this section...
Because people need to mind their own business! Do what you want to do, and just be happy!
Why are you afraid to get married?
