How can we get married in NC, and not be a member of a church anywhere?

My fiance and I are looking to get married in May, but I am very unsure of of how to do this and not be a member in a church anywhere. We are looking to do an outside hippie style wedding, It's both of our second go rounds at this I will not be wearing a white dress. We just want to share with our loved ones what we see and love in each other. Thank you in advance for any help with this. Not sure this will help but we are in North Carolina. How can we get married in NC, and not be a member of a church anywhere?
I guess I'm a little confused as to what you're looking for. If you don't want to be married in a church, why is it that you believe you'd need to be a member?

The only reason you'd need to be a member of a church, is if you wanted to utilize the church's facility or related services. Everything else is just a matter of hiring/renting what you want.

Edit:

So, it's actually really simple. You can start by looking in your local phone book for ';ministers'; or ';wedding services';. There are all kinds of non-denominational ministers out there who specialize in performing weddings (it's really a happy occasion - I can't blame them!). Alternately, if there's an important person in your life who you'd like to have do the job, anyone can be legally ordained on the internet, in about 15 minutes. If you're okay having a loved one working, and not sitting in the audience as a guest, it can be anybody you want!

Edit #2:

Oh, yeah, and there are bound to be about a million parks in your area. If the %26lt;one%26gt; in Kernersville isn't available, try driving north to the shores of Belews Lake. You're in a beautiful part of the country...there are bound to be all kinds of places you could pull this off! The Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce probably has some suggestions for what's available in the area...you might give them a call. How can we get married in NC, and not be a member of a church anywhere?
If you are wanting to have a clergyman perform the ceremony, just call around and ask. I have never joined a church and my first wedding was done by a Methodist minister. We got married at the zoo where I worked. The first preacher we asked had problems with it and refused to do the ceremony (a Baptist, Lol), so we just kept looking. The next guy we asked was thrilled. You can check with a Unitarian Church, they are about the most ';forgiving'; when it comes to unusual ceremonies. Or you could check with judges and justices of the peace. Just cross their palm with a couple of hundred bucks, no problem!

Good luck!
just google weddings in NC in your city or county where you are getting married and you'll find all kinds of things about getting married there. NC is a hot vacation spot and a fairly popular destination wedding spot.

they have justices of the peace, judges and yes, even ministers who you can hire and who will show up where you want and marry you and sign the paperwork.

if you live there then check your locality for parks and such and for what types of reservations or permits are required.
You can have a civil ceremony and be married by a clergy person, or by a justice of the peace. Ask at your local courthouse. In some states a notary public is also authorized to perform marriages.

There are many nice park settings, or at the sea side, or by a lake, or at a state park, where the costs would be minimal. Best wishes!
Where specifically in NC?

Marry @ a local park ( get the park's permission of course).
Get married in a local park

Edit: Just because one park is being used doesn't mean that all of them are. Or get married a different weekend
I'm a little confused? Do you want to get married in a church or not? You don't have to get married in a church, but if you want to you don't have to be a member. Just find a non denominational church or a Unitarian church that you can rent for the wedding.

There are plenty of officiants around whether it is a minister, or justice of the peace. Here are a few sites to get you started finding an officiant:

If you do not want to marry in a church, there are plenty of venues where you can be married. Since one of your local parks is having a fair, why not check out some other parks. You will need to contact the parks and recreation department for you area to reserve the park and find out if there are any fees involved. If any the fees for parks are usually small.

Next do you need a separate place for you reception? Or are you planning to have the reception at the same place? Consider having a punch and cake reception instead of a full sit down meal. This would entail punch, soft drinks, etc and desserts cake and maybe a few snacks. You could also find a local hall like a Lions Club, Sons of Italy, Knight of Columbus or other hall and have the wedding and reception all in one place.
