Is it possible for married couples to file separately after filing jointly for four years?

Yes. Each year stands alone. You make that decision each year.Is it possible for married couples to file separately after filing jointly for four years?
The government recognizes that a persons life can change during the tax year therefore you have the option of selecting the correct filing status for the current tax year.Is it possible for married couples to file separately after filing jointly for four years?
can always file married filing seperately
It's always possible but almost never benificial for either party. By filing separately you are not eligible for most of the tax credits that would otherwise be availible to you. By filing separately you are going to be paying more in taxes than you would if you were filing jointly. You can file jointly and have the refund separated into 3 different accounts. So if you are not getting along with your spouse - you can still file jointly and get half the refund. You would not have to wait for your spouse to cash the check and then give you some of the money.
